Opening Meditation
1Here, the beginning of the good news of Jesus, the Christ, the Offspring of Divine Presence. 2As is written in the prophet Isaiah: Look! I send My messenger before Your face, who will make ready Your way- 3A voice of one crying out in the desert, 'Prepare the way of the Presence, make the Presence's road level and ready!'"
4John the Baptist appeared in the desert teaching a baptism signifying turning to Divine Presence, for release from sins. 5And there kept going out to him persons from all Judea and all the citizens of Jerusalem. John baptized them in Jordan river, for they were confessing their sins.
6And John wore clothing woven of camel's hair. He had a leather girdle around his loins. His diet was locusts and wild honey.
7And he taught, saying, "After me comes the One Who is stronger than I. The strap of His sandals I am not worthy to bend down and unloose. 8I have baptized you with water; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
